Chinese
Movements & Breathing Techniques for Health & Vitality
QiGong,
which literally means "energy work", has been continuously
practiced in China for thousands of years to achieve vibrant health
and a calm mind. QiGong is similar to Tai Chi, in that it incorporates
slow, meditative movements with deep abdominal breathing. Tai Chi,
however takes years to learn the complicated sequences, whereas
QiGong movements are much shorter, and can be learned in a single
session. QiGong counteracts the chronic stress and strain of daily
life on the body and mind, and restores balance to essence, energy
and spirit. Regular practice ha! s been shown to improve health,
strengthen the immune system, regulate blood pressure, and calm
the mind.
In
these introductory classes, you will learn basic, yet powerful QiGong
exercises based on the movements of animals and birds, such as the
bear, the crane, the goose, and the dragon, as well as movements
to cleanse the bone marrow, strengthen the immune system, and build
up your "qi", or vital energy.

Starting April 7th, I will have a weekly Saturday morning class in the Rose Garden, a park located on Locust Street, between 4th and 5th. This class will be from 8:30 to 9:30, weather permitting each week. Doing QiGong outside gives you the added benefit of receiving the Qi of the trees, flowers, and the sky.

QiGong at Birdsong Peace Chamber
Pottstown, PA
April 29th, from 12:30 to 2pm.
My favorite place for a QiGong class, the grounds there are used for monthly sweat lodges and yearly sacred Native American dances. We do QiGong on the field where the Drum Dance is held each summer solstice time. Lots of trees, blue skies (hopefully), flowers, and great earth energy makes this a special place to practice.
This class is $20, held rain or shine.
We will practice inside the Peace Chamber (pictured on the website) if it rains.
